Application of Applied Joint Sealants

Our Code of Practice

A Code of Practice for the Application of Applied Joint Sealants for Concrete and Asphalt Pavements

The Extruded Sealant Association provides technical and practical advice on joint sealing concrete and asphalt pavements on airfields, highways, car parks and similar structures.

Recognition of the need for high standards and good sealing practices to prevent the ingress of water and salt into pavement structures focuses attention on the effectiveness of joint sealing systems and the methods of installation.

The Extruded Sealant Association members are the leading UK specialist manufacturers and contractors whose principal aim is to raise and maintain standards within the industry.  The Association has developed a Code of Practice for the Application of Applied Joint Sealants for Concrete and Asphalt Pavements.

The Extruded Sealant Association wishes to emphasise that the contents of this document are the collective views of members and are believed to be accurate.  However, all readers and users of this publication should carry out all necessary checks on each specific contract in terms of technical relevance and health and safety issues as the association cannot accept any liability, however caused.

Scope

The Code of Practice for the Application of Applied Joint Sealants for Concrete & Asphalt Pavements gives recommendations for the preparation of joint sealant slots and for the application and site testing of hot and cold applied joint sealants for use in joints in roads, airfields and other exposed asphalt and concrete pavements.

The principles it contains apply to both new works and repairs, and recommendations for resealing are included within the Code of Practice.
